Digi Choosday – Week 38 – Anything Goes

Morning, it’s Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Digi Choosday

The theme is – Anything Goes.

I’ve made a little Xmas gift box for this weeks challenge, using the new release from Polkadoodles Festive Christmas available on CD-ROM.

Step by Step

1. Choose papers & a tag from Polkadoodles Festive Christmas collection.

2. Used the Tattered Lace Hexagon Box die to cut the box and lid from the Festive Christmas papers. Constructed the box and lid, edged with a green Memento ink pad.

3. Cut out the tag and edged with a green Memento ink pad.

4.  Used a Tattered Lace Floral die to cut the flowers and foliage from the Festive Christmas papers. Edged the flowers with a red Memento ink pad. I printed a green and red paper from the Festive Christmas collection double sided to use for the foliage and flowers, saves paper 🙂

5. Adhered the flowers and tag using Pinflair 3D glue gel. Embellished the flowers with flat back pearls.

One down, yes it’s Xmas card …..

Oh my word, a Xmas card already!!! I always leave my Xmas cards to the last minute so will I do better this year? Who knows but one down already so it’s a start lol

Sweet Poppy Stencils - Baubles

I used the SP stencil Holly Baubles with the SP white dimensional paste on white linen effect cardstock. Whilst the paste is still wet I used various SP glitters, the Sweet Poppy glitters are so so yummy.

Using the same white linen effect cardstock I stamped a sentiment, from a Clearly Besotted stamp set, using Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder. I cut the sentiment out using a die, also from Clearly Besotted, and edged the banner with a gold pen.

Once the stencil paste was dry, I matted and layered onto gold mirri card and white linen effect cardstock, and finally adhered to an A5 card blank, also made from the white linen effect cardstock.

Morning, how is everyone? Are we all nearly there with Xmas preparations!!! I’m winning but still not quite there yet 🙂

Well, it’s Tuesday so that means it’s the start of the new challenge over on Digi Choosday challenge blog and this week the theme is Xmas Decor.

I’ve made a plaque, I used the same colour palette as my Xmas wreath made for last weeks challenge.

Digi Choosday - Xmas Decor, Polkadoodles

I started by giving the plaque a quick coat of the Creative Expressions Matt Chalk paint in Heritage Green, before using one of the yummy backing papers from the Work and Play 5 – Festive Hollybobs collection, available as a digital download or on CD-Rom.

I used one of the Design Sheets from the Festive Hollybobs collection to create the main focal point of the plaque, elements from the Design Sheet were used to  decoupage some of the elements of the topper and others to embellish the rest of the plaque. Adding a little Stickles glitter glue to finish off.

Look forward to seeing your projects over on the Digi Choosday challenge, lovely prize up for grabs for the winner of the challenge.

Digi Choosday Challenge – Traditional Xmas

Morning, Tuesday already where does the time go??? Time to share my make for the current Digi Choosday Challenge, this week it’s Traditional Xmas. Now I’m sure you’ve all got something festive made so make sure to pop on over to Digi Choosday and share your Traditional Xmas make we’d love to see what you’ve been making, there’s a prize for the winner of the challenge and who doesn’t need more crafty goodies 🙂

So what have I made for this challenge, well I decided to make a Xmas wreath. Xmas wreaths are a traditional part of Xmas and this is made using what is essential paper chains, another staple of Xmas and who hasn’t as a child made a paper chain.

I used various papers from the Work & Play Festive Hollybobs collection, available as a digital download or on CD-Rom.

It’s an easy make, something you can get the children or grandchildren involved with. I used a glue gun but there’s no reason why wet glue cannot be used if children are making the wreath.

I started by cutting a large circle to create the base for the wreath. I used my largest circle die from Tattered Lace, the die is a little under 21cm across.

I then printed out various papers from the Work & Play Festive Hollybobs collection. I choose to print the papers double sided, you could leave the reverse unprinted but printing double sided meant I could alternate sides and cut down on the number of A4 sheets I needed to print out. I printed out 5 A4 sheets, double sided, to create the paper chains/loops of the wreath and the centre of the wreath, plus 1 single sided piece of the red polkadot paper.

I cut the papers into strips, I used 1″ x 5″ strips. I curled the strips before gluing the ends together, it makes the paper behave a little better when gluing the loop. Once all the strips are glued, I began attaching them to the circle base. Beginning on the outer edge of the base and working inwards, overlapping the second & third row of loops over the previous row.

I cut circles to form the centre decoration of the wreath, along with a rosette die, Tattered Lace, and a text die, Tonic Studios. Finally I added the ribbon to the back to create the loop for hanging the wreath and used 3D pearls to add the berries to the text.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to share your Traditional Xmas project, it could be anything a card, plaque, coaster, journal page, anything with a Traditonal Xmas theme.
