Broken Wings

Sharing a W.I.P. this afternoon, been playing around with Dylusions paints, Visible Image stamps and the Visible Image Monoliths.

I’ve had the monoliths for awhile and had put them safely away, this is always a dangerous approach for me, crafting and tidy doesn’t mix for me!!!

Anyway, this is the start of the monolith, I was hoping to have had more done but not had much time to craft last few days.

I’ve not completed the bottom of the monolith yet because I’ve not decided how I’m decorating the other side yet!!

Broken Wings, Mixed Media, Visiblr Image stamps, Stamping, Stencils

Step by Step

Painted a monolith with black gesso and glued the two pieces together.

Cut a piece of watercolour card stock to fit the monolith.

Applied Dylusions paints, colours used After Midnight, Calypso Teal and Cut Grass, with a blending tool to the watercolour card stock.

Used a Tim Holtz stencil with the Dylusions paints, same colours as above, to add some interest to the background.

Used Indigo Blu Crackleglaze background stamp with grey Archival ink, stamped over the whole background. Used first and second generation stamping to vary the effect on the background.

Used HobbyArt texture stamp to add the flecked/mottled effect around the edge of the background using black Archival ink.

Used an antistatic bag over the background, to eliminate embossing powder where I don’t want it.

Stamped the elements from Visible Images ‘Learn To Fly’ stamp set, using Smokey Gray Versafine ink and heat embossed with detailed clear embossing powder.

Used Black Soot Distress ink around the edge of the background, wiped away Distress ink from the embossed areas. The embossed areas act as a resist with the Distress ink so the ink never dries so if you don’t wipe away excess you’ll end up with mucky fingers when touching??

Adhered to the monolith using red super sticky tape and PVA glue.

Applied Dylusions paint, Crushed Grape and After Midnight, to the art journal pages using a blending tool.

Used a couple of Dylusions stencils, hearts and circles, with the Dylusions paints, same colours as above, and a blending tool.

Used circle stencil from Clarity Stamps with White Linen Dylusions paint and a blending tool.

Add some interest to the background using black Archival ink with Indigo Blu’s Script Background stamp.

Stamped one of the roses from Dylusions Pin Up Queen stamp set, using black Archival ink.

Coloured the roses with Magic Color Fluid Acrylic inks.

Exhausting

Morning, another page from one of my art journals.

My first attempt at a doodle frame on this page.

Exhausting, Art Journal, Mixed Media, Stamping, Stencils, Dylusions, Dyan Reaveley

Step by Step

The background is Dylusions paints, Calypso Teal, Black Marble & Lemon Zest. The background is actually a clean up page, simply blending the remaining paint from another page onto a blank page, Calypso Teal & Lemon Zest. The Black Marble paint was applied by twisting the blending tool to create the circles. The stencilling is also clean up with Black Marble paint and an Imagination Crafts stencil.

I used stamps, from Dylusions Love Struck Lucy & Indigo Blu, with various colours of Archival ink to add interest to the background.

Using the Dylusions journal block with a black Derwent Graphik Paint Liner to create the frame.

Doodled the frame using both a black and white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner.

Stamped the character, Dylusions Curious Corrin, onto white card stock using black Archival ink. Coloured her with Faber Castell Pitt pens and Derwent Inktense pencils. Fussy cut out Corrin.

Stamped the sentiment, from a Dylusions clear stamp set, on to white card stock using black Archival ink. Cut out the text.

Adhered Corrin and the text to the page using DecoArt Matte Medium.

Used Faber Castell Pitt pen in dark blue and yellow to add some shadow around Corrin.

Wild Flowers

Afternoon, sharing another make from my master board make and Sweet Poppy Stencils.

Step by Step

Created the background using Dylusion paints with a brayer, plastic card and old lid, on white card stock.

Trimmed background to size, used Sweet Poppy Stencils black glossy dimensional paste with the Wild Flowers stencil, also from Sweet Poppy Stencils.

Created a 5×7″ card blank from white textured card stock.

Cut away a small piece of card from the front edge of the card blank.

Used black Archival ink and the Script stamp from Indigo Blu to create the background on the card blank.

Used black card stock and a Tonic punch to create the border piece.

Attached the punched border to the card blank using red super sticky DS tape.

Inked the edge of the stencilled image with Black Soot Distress ink.

Matted the stencilled image onto black card stock.

Adhered to the card blank using 3D foam pads.

Again, I’ve not added a sentiment yet because I’m creating a stash of blank cards ready to add an appropriate sentiment when needed.

Always Flowers ….

Afternoon, been playing in my art journal with acrylic paints and stamps.

Created the base of the background using acrylic paints, in yellow, orange and purple.

Used various stencils, from Clarity Stamps & Creative Expressions, to add interest to scene using acrylic paints and a make up sponge.

Used various stamps, from Indigo Blu, Sheena Douglass, Tim Holtz & Hobby Art, to add to the background using Archival & Stazon inks in various colours.

Used a white gel pen to add some highlights and emphasis areas of the stenciled background.

Stamped the stems & leaves from Polkadoodles Daisy Days stamp set, using black Archival ink, directly on the art journal page.

On some white card stock stamped the flower heads & butterflies, also from Polkadoodles Daisy Days stamp set, using black Archival ink.

Coloured the flower heads, butterflies & stems with Faber Castell Pitt pens.

Used a script stamp, from Indigo Blu, to stamp over the flower heads.

Cut out the flower heads and butterflies and adhered to the page.

Stamped the quote, from a Card-io stamp set, using black Archival ink. Cut out and adhered to the page.

Used a stamp, from Polkadoodles Little Kingdom stamp set, to create the border at the top and bottom of the page. Coloured with Faber Castell Pitt pens and used a white gel pen to add the dots.
