Polkadoodles – 7 Year Itch – Oddella

Morning all, thank goodness it’s the weekend, it’s been a hectic week!

It’s time to celebrate Polkadoodles is turning 7.

As this anniversary is normally called the “7 year itch”, the Polkadoodles team have embraced the prickly feeling by scratching that itch and mixing/scratching up some new images … get the pun? Corny we know but the team have had great fun. So to embrace the “itchy scratch” the Polkadoodles team have thrown caution to the wind and “scratched up” a different kind of birthday celebration.

The birthday celebrations will be running for 2 weeks and each day someone from the Polkadoodles team will be sharing their “mixed/scratched up” image. It’s been all hush hush and secret squirrel too as no one knows who has been busy creating what and when they will be revealing their image… so the Polkadoodles team get to join in the fun too. To add an extra layer of itchy fun, everyone has also been colouring up the new “scratched/mixed up” images, (still not knowing who designed them) and they will be sharing via their blogs and on FaceBook.

We really have scratched things up … new merged images, no one knows who created what and no one knows when they’ll be sharing them …!

Please do take the opportunity to visit the Polkadoodles team, you can catch up with team over on Facebook in Polkadoodles Crafting or Digi Choosday Crafting with Polkadoodles groups and see their new digi images because you will find a discount code (or two) along your way that you can use in the Polkadoodles shop.

I got busy and messy making an altered mini clipboard, using my mixed up digi image, available here.

Step by Step

1. Using my mixed up digi image, Oddella with wings, I printed the altered Oddella onto Ultimate Graphic paper and coloured her with a combination of Copic Pens and Faber Castell Polychromo pencils, along with a gold Wink of Stellar brush pen on the crown. Fussy cut Oddella out, I did chop off her handbag because I knew it would be virtually covered with the paper flowers.

2. Used Art Deco Modelling paste with a Viva Decor/Pinflair stencil in a couple of spots on the mini clipboard and allowed to dry.

3. Gave the mini clipboard a thin coat of white gesso, used Art Deco acrylic paints in brown & teal to give an undercoat to the background.

4. Used Ranger Alcohol Inks, in various colours – reds, oranges, gold, silver & green, to create an aged metallic effect for the background. Also adding some to the spring clip of the mini clipboard.

5.  Used black Archival ink with various Tim Holtz stamps to add some interest to the background.

6. Highlighted the stencilled embossing with the Pinflair Buff-It.

7. Used a Tattered Lace heart die to cut three hearts from Kraft card, embossed one of the hearts with a Tattered Lace embossing folder. Glued the three hearts together, this was done simply to give the heart some strength because it would be on the spring clip.

8. Cut several cogs and a key, using First Edition dies, and an arrow, using a Sizzix die, from Kraft card. Coloured the heart, cogs, key and arrow with Pinflair Buff-It in several metallic colours.

9. Glued the various die cuts onto the heart, adhered the heart to the spring clip using Pinflair 3D glue gel.

10. Glued my Oddella mixed up digi image to the bottom right hand corner using Art Deco Matte Medium, also sealed Oddella with the Matte Medium too. Added the paper flowers, adhering with Pinflair 3D glue gel, and a couple of sprigs cut from Kraft card, using a Tattered Lace die.

For my mixed up image, I’ve used one of my fav digi characters Oddella with handbag, instant download, and mixed it up with a couple of digi stamps, the crown and the wings, from the Work and Play 9 Love & Kisses Collection, instant download.

The mixed up digi, Oddella with wings, is also available, currently on special offer but don’t delay the special price won’t last for ever 🙂

Digi Choosday – Week 14 – Anything Goes

Morning, it’s Tuesday so time for the new Digi Choosday Challenge.

This weeks theme is ‘Anything Goes’, so whatever your style or design, come on over and join in with the challenge.

I’ve created a page in one of my art journals, using the brilliant Ickyink Oddella with handbag digi stamp, a sentiment from the Stamp Soup Lavender Tea CD- ROM and I also used the Lavender Tea Stamp Soup and Lemonade Fizz Stamp Soup stamp sets in the background.

Digi Choosday, Week 14, Anything Goes, Art Journal, mixed Media

 Step by Step

1. I took the Oddella digi stamp into my graphics program, I used My Craft Studio, and crop and resized to fit my A5 page in my art journal.

2. I cropped and resized the sentiment from the Stamp Soup Lavender Tea CD-ROM.

3. Printed Oddella and the sentiment onto Ultimate Graphic paper, it’s my choice of paper when I’m colouring digi stamps with my alcohol pens.

4. Coloured Oddella digi stamp with Copic pens & Sakura Stardust pens and then fussy cut her. Cut out the sentiment, I wasn’t very precise just cut by hand leaving enough room so I could add a border/frame with pen later.

5. To create the background on the A5 page, I used Creative Expressions Colour Cloud blending inks in yellow, pink & orange.

6. Used my mini minsters with fluid acrylic inks diluted with water, I used Magic Color fluid acrylic inks, in yellow, orange and purple to spray/splatter the background.

7. Used stencils from Clarity Stamps, Tim Holtz & Dyan Reaveley together with the Creative Expressions Colour Cloud blending inks ( a dark purple & grey) to add depth to the background.

8. Used stamps from the Stamp Soup Lavender Tea and Stamp Soup Lemonade Fizz stamp sets, using Archival inks in various colours to add interest to the background.

9. Coloured the stamp hearts with a pink Faber Castell Pitt pen.

10.  Glued Oddella and sentiment in place using Art Deco Matte Medium, I also gave the whole page a thin coat of the matte medium.

11. Once the matte medium was dry, I coloured the sentiment with yellow & orange FC Pitt pens. Added some shadow around the stamped heart using a warm grey FC Pitt pen and highlighted Oddella with orange and yellow FC Pitt pens.

12. Used a Copic multi-liner pen to add a border to the page and the sentiment.

Don’t forget there’s a discount code over on the Digi Choosday Challenge to use at Polkadoodles for today only, don’t miss out!

Digi Choosday Challenge – Anything Goes

Morning, thanks for stopping by I know everyone is getting busier and busier at this time of the year, so I do appreciate you taking the time to have a read.

It’s Tuesday so that means it’s time for a new challenge over at the Digi Choosday challenge blogthis weeks theme is Anything Goes.

Digi Choosday - Anything Goes, Polkadoodles, Oddella

I’m continuing my obsession with super size tags and the IckyInk Oddella digi stamps, from Polkadoodles. Some of you may recall another tag I made using the same Oddella digi stamp a few weeks back, you can read the post here, I’ve not only use the same digi image but I’ve coloured in virtually the same way, yes I did like the way she turned out in the first tag!!  I printed Oddella at a smaller size for this tag, four on an A4 sheet, were as on the With Thanks tag just two to the A4 page. I used the Windows Photo Viewer to print the images, I find it quick and easy to do when I want to print multiple images of the same digi stamp.

I coloured Oddella using alcohol markers and fussy cut the image.

I created the background of the tag using Faber Castell Gelatos, using yellow, orange and red, sealing them with DecoArt Matte Medium . I used a Tim Holtz stencil and Black Soot distress ink, to add interest to the background. I added more texture to the background using Versafine inks and various Indigo Blu stamps. I sealed the stencilling and stamping with DecoArt Matte Medium, after I’d heat set the inks with a heat tool. I used a Clarity Stamps heart stencil to draw through, with Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens!, adding definition to the hearts with rough squiggle lines, using a Sakura Micron pen. I also dotted a few of the hearts with a white Shake Graph’it pen, sealing again with DecoArt Matte Medium.

I glued the Oddella digi image down using DecoArt Matte Medium and sealed her with the Matte Medium too. Now I’d messed up the ladybug in Oddella’s hair, the black glitter didn’t work???, so I decided to give her a little top hat. I roughly drew a top hat using a Sakura Micron pen and coloured with alcohol markers, fussy cut and glued over the ladybug. Finally I used a couple of die cuts and a flat back gem to add a little something to the top hat! I used a text stamp from the Tim Holtz range, stamped using Onyx Black Versafine and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Finally, I used the Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens to add shade around Oddella.

Look forward to seeing your entry over on the Digi Choosday challenge blog and don’t forget the fantastic discount code available for one day only, full details on the challenge.
