Digi Choosday – Week 34 – Anything Goes

Morning, it’s Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Digi Choosday.

The theme is – Anything Goes.

I’ve chosen to make an art journal page using the latest release from Polkadoodles Winnie Starfish and Sandcastles collection and some Dylusions paints.

Digi Choosday, Week 34, Polkadoodles, Art Journal, Mixed Media, Dylusions

 Step by Step

Used a graphics program to resized the sunglasses images from the Winnie Starfish and Sandcastles collection, available on CD-ROM or as instant download.

Created the quote using a graphics program.

Printed and cut out the sunglasses and text.

Used Dylusions paints to create the background on the page, using Cherry Pie, Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange.

To add more interest to the background, used various stencils, from Imagination Crafts & Dylusions, with a blending tool and Dylusion paints, in the same colours as above.

Used several stamps from Polkadoodles to add further interest to the background, using Archival inks in various colours.

Lemonade Fizz – used the spotty heart stamp

Lavender Tea – used the small circles & tiny flowers

Also used some Hobby Art textures stamps, with Archival inks, to add depth the page.

Arranged the sunglasses and text on the page and adhered with DecoArt Matte Medium.

Used a black Posca paint pen to colour some of the sunglasses frames.

Added a border around each piece of text using black Posca paint pen.

Stamped the tiny heart, from Polkadoodles Magic Garden stamp set, in the lenses of some of the sunglasses, using black Archival ink.

Used a white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen to add some emphasis some of the stencilling in the background.

Add some detail to the text using a white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen.

Used the white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen to add more detail to the dotty heart in the background.

Used a red Pan Pastel on the word ‘heart’

Used a dark blue Pan Pastel around the sunglasses to add some shadow.

Broken Wings

Sharing a W.I.P. this afternoon, been playing around with Dylusions paints, Visible Image stamps and the Visible Image Monoliths.

I’ve had the monoliths for awhile and had put them safely away, this is always a dangerous approach for me, crafting and tidy doesn’t mix for me!!!

Anyway, this is the start of the monolith, I was hoping to have had more done but not had much time to craft last few days.

I’ve not completed the bottom of the monolith yet because I’ve not decided how I’m decorating the other side yet!!

Broken Wings, Mixed Media, Visiblr Image stamps, Stamping, Stencils

Step by Step

Painted a monolith with black gesso and glued the two pieces together.

Cut a piece of watercolour card stock to fit the monolith.

Applied Dylusions paints, colours used After Midnight, Calypso Teal and Cut Grass, with a blending tool to the watercolour card stock.

Used a Tim Holtz stencil with the Dylusions paints, same colours as above, to add some interest to the background.

Used Indigo Blu Crackleglaze background stamp with grey Archival ink, stamped over the whole background. Used first and second generation stamping to vary the effect on the background.

Used HobbyArt texture stamp to add the flecked/mottled effect around the edge of the background using black Archival ink.

Used an antistatic bag over the background, to eliminate embossing powder where I don’t want it.

Stamped the elements from Visible Images ‘Learn To Fly’ stamp set, using Smokey Gray Versafine ink and heat embossed with detailed clear embossing powder.

Used Black Soot Distress ink around the edge of the background, wiped away Distress ink from the embossed areas. The embossed areas act as a resist with the Distress ink so the ink never dries so if you don’t wipe away excess you’ll end up with mucky fingers when touching??

Adhered to the monolith using red super sticky tape and PVA glue.

Imagination

Morning, sharing an another art journal page today.

Still playing around with the Dylusions paints, they are scrumptious.

Step by Step

Used Dylusion paints in Lemon Zest, Fresh Lime and Calypso Teal with a blending tool, applying in blocks randomly over th entire page.

Used a black Faber Castell Gelato to section off the colour blocks., using my finger to soften and smooth out the line.

Used black Archival ink and stamped the colour blocks, with stamps from Visible Images, Dylusions and a My Craft Studio scroll stamp.

Stencilled areas of the page with White Linen Dylusions paints using an Imagination Crafts stencil.

Cut two tag shapes, one large and one smaller, from white card stock, used Dylusion paints. Using the same colour paints as the journal page, applied with a blending tool.

Stencilled areas of the large tag with Dylusions White Linen paint and an Imagination Crafts stencil. Stamped the large tag with the eye from a Visible Image stamp set using black Archival ink.

Stencilled areas of the small tag with Fresh Lime Dylusions paint using an Imagination Crafts stencil. Used a Creative Expressions stencil with White Linen Dylusions paint to create further interest on the smaller tag.

Used black Archival ink to stamp various textures and images, using stamps from Visible Images & Hobby Art.

Used white card stock to stamp the two sentiments, both Visible Image stamps, cut them out as above.

Doodled around the edge of the individual words using a black Sakura Micron pen.

Stamped around the edge of the other piece of text using black Archival ink, inked the edge with Black Soot Distress ink.

Matted the tags and text onto black card stock, trimmed and punched a hole using a Crop-A-Dile.

Attached the black cord to the tags.

Adhered the tags and text to the page.

It felt a little too dark at this stage, so added some white circles using a Dylusions stencil, White Linen Dylusions paint and a blending tool.

Now the white circles seemed to in your face!! So used a dotty Imagination Crafts stencil and Black Marble Dylusions paint over sections of the page, tags and text.

Finally, used a Derwent Graphik Paint Liner in black around the larger white circles.

Used various stencils, from Clarity Stamps & Creative Expressions, to add interest to scene using acrylic paints and a make up sponge.

Used various stamps, from Indigo Blu, Sheena Douglass, Tim Holtz & Hobby Art, to add to the background using Archival & Stazon inks in various colours.

On some white card stock stamped the flower heads & butterflies, also from Polkadoodles Daisy Days stamp set, using black Archival ink.

Used a script stamp, from Indigo Blu, to stamp over the flower heads.

Cut out the flower heads and butterflies and adhered to the page.

Stamped the quote, from a Card-io stamp set, using black Archival ink. Cut out and adhered to the page.

Dragonfly Wishes

Morning, thank goodness it’s Friday!!

Sharing a make using the remaining card from the master board I create yesterday. I bought lots of new crafty stash at the Crafting Live show in Doncaster, had a brilliant time as always. So wish I was at the Crafting Live show at Sandown this weekend!! Part of the new crafty haul includes some new Sweet Poppy stencils, just lurvvvve this new dragonfly stencil. I used black glossy dimensional paste, from Sweet Poppy, and whilst the paste was still wet added various delicious Sweet Poppy glitters, in various blues, greens, pinks etc. sadly, my photography doesn’t show the glitter at its best! The sentiment is from a text stamp set by Clearly Besotted stamps.

I’ll be entering the following challenges –

Cardz 4 Galz – #27 No Patterned Paper (background made using acrylic paint, rubber stamps & stencils)
