Polkadoodles Crafting Challenge – Week 49 – Anything Goes

Morning everyone, thanks for stopping by, I know how busy this time of the year can get!!!

It’s challenge time over on the Polkadoodles Crafting Challenge

The challenge is ‘Anything Goes’ and  we’d love to see your makes over on the blog, there’s a prize for the winner of the challenge.

For this weeks challenge, I’ve made a mini wreath using the Polkadoodles Super Sprigs die, I also used the snowflakes from the  Polkadoodles Festive Christmas collection stamp sets and the oval frame from the Polkadoodles Bubbleicious die set.

Step By Step

1. Cut two circles from white card stock, one to create the base for the wreath and the second to cover the ribbon attachment.

2. Cut 18 sprigs using the Polkadoodles Super Sprigs die from white card stock.

3. Coloured the large sprigs with a light blue Copic pen, left the smaller sprigs white.

4. Glued the larger light blue sprigs around the edge of the circle.

5. Glued the smaller white sprigs randomly between the larger light blue sprigs.

6. Cut the oval frame, using the Polkadoodles Bubbleicious die set, from white card stock.

7. Stamped the ‘Wishes’ sentiment, from a Clearly Besotted stamp set, in light blue Memento ink on the oval die cut.

8. Stamped the snowflakes, from the Polkadoodles Festive Christmas collection, in light blue Memento ink on the oval die cut.

9. Used some wooden alphabet letters, pressed into a Versamark ink pad and heat embossed with a WOW silver glitter embossing powder.

10. Attached a blue ribbon for the hanging to the back of the wreath, using red super sticky DS tape.

11. Adhered the second circle to cover the ribbon attachment.

12. Adhered the oval to the centre of the wreath using Pinflair 3D glue gel.

13. Glued the ‘Xmas’ letters to the oval using dries clear glue.

14. Used 3D pearls in light blue on the wreath and added some clear glitter before the 3D pearls dried.

Broken Wings

Sharing a W.I.P. this afternoon, been playing around with Dylusions paints, Visible Image stamps and the Visible Image Monoliths.

I’ve had the monoliths for awhile and had put them safely away, this is always a dangerous approach for me, crafting and tidy doesn’t mix for me!!!

Anyway, this is the start of the monolith, I was hoping to have had more done but not had much time to craft last few days.

I’ve not completed the bottom of the monolith yet because I’ve not decided how I’m decorating the other side yet!!

Broken Wings, Mixed Media, Visiblr Image stamps, Stamping, Stencils

Step by Step

Painted a monolith with black gesso and glued the two pieces together.

Cut a piece of watercolour card stock to fit the monolith.

Applied Dylusions paints, colours used After Midnight, Calypso Teal and Cut Grass, with a blending tool to the watercolour card stock.

Used a Tim Holtz stencil with the Dylusions paints, same colours as above, to add some interest to the background.

Used Indigo Blu Crackleglaze background stamp with grey Archival ink, stamped over the whole background. Used first and second generation stamping to vary the effect on the background.

Used HobbyArt texture stamp to add the flecked/mottled effect around the edge of the background using black Archival ink.

Used an antistatic bag over the background, to eliminate embossing powder where I don’t want it.

Stamped the elements from Visible Images ‘Learn To Fly’ stamp set, using Smokey Gray Versafine ink and heat embossed with detailed clear embossing powder.

Used Black Soot Distress ink around the edge of the background, wiped away Distress ink from the embossed areas. The embossed areas act as a resist with the Distress ink so the ink never dries so if you don’t wipe away excess you’ll end up with mucky fingers when touching??

Adhered to the monolith using red super sticky tape and PVA glue.

Live Life

A tag to share today, I don’t think I’ll ever get bored making tags!!!

Step by Step

Cut some white card stock into a tag shape.

Used Creative Expressions Colour Cloud Blending inks, using various shades of pink and red.

Sprinkled the tag with water, allowed it penetrate the inks and then blotted with kitchen roll.

Used a Dylusions clear border stamp with black Archival ink at the bottom of the tag.

Used Tim Holtz & Sheena Douglass stamps with pink and red Archival inks to create the background.

Used a black Archival ink stamped focal image and the clock faces, used clear embossing powder to heat emboss the stamped images.

Stamped the water drops, from an Inkylicious stamp set, with black Archival ink.

Coloured sections of the border at the bottom with a red Faber Castell Pitt pen and a white gel pen.

Add some highlights to the water drops with a white gel pen.

Stamped the text, from a Tim Holtz stamp set, onto white card stock with black Archival ink. Cut out the text and adhered to the tag, used a black Sakura Micron pen around the edge of the text.

Used a black Inktense pencil & a damp paintbrush around the feet of the character, to ground him.

Matted the tag onto black card stock and trimmed.

Used Glossy Accents on the water drops.

Evening, hope your all keeping well and the current heat wave isn’t bothering you too much, enjoying the sunshine but if it would cool down at night that would be perfect!

I had a play with my acrylic paints again and created a master board, which is simply making a background design on a large piece of card stock/paperthat you can chop up and make lots of smaller projects, I’m sure there is a fancy description out there but I don’t do fancy!

My first make using part of the master board is an 8×8″ card using the gorgeous new Polkadoodles Tropical Underworld stamp set.
