Spread Your Wings – Art Journal

Evening, sharing an art journal page today. The weather is pretty yuck here, but we have been fortunate and not had any really nasty weather, so decided to ignore the grim rain and winds and went for bright, bold and sunny art journal page.

Digi Choosday – Week 34 – Anything Goes

Morning, it’s Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Digi Choosday.

The theme is – Anything Goes.

I’ve chosen to make an art journal page using the latest release from Polkadoodles Winnie Starfish and Sandcastles collection and some Dylusions paints.

Digi Choosday, Week 34, Polkadoodles, Art Journal, Mixed Media, Dylusions

 Step by Step

Used a graphics program to resized the sunglasses images from the Winnie Starfish and Sandcastles collection, available on CD-ROM or as instant download.

Created the quote using a graphics program.

Printed and cut out the sunglasses and text.

Used Dylusions paints to create the background on the page, using Cherry Pie, Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange.

To add more interest to the background, used various stencils, from Imagination Crafts & Dylusions, with a blending tool and Dylusion paints, in the same colours as above.

Used several stamps from Polkadoodles to add further interest to the background, using Archival inks in various colours.

Lemonade Fizz – used the spotty heart stamp

Lavender Tea – used the small circles & tiny flowers

Also used some Hobby Art textures stamps, with Archival inks, to add depth the page.

Arranged the sunglasses and text on the page and adhered with DecoArt Matte Medium.

Used a black Posca paint pen to colour some of the sunglasses frames.

Added a border around each piece of text using black Posca paint pen.

Stamped the tiny heart, from Polkadoodles Magic Garden stamp set, in the lenses of some of the sunglasses, using black Archival ink.

Used a white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen to add some emphasis some of the stencilling in the background.

Add some detail to the text using a white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen.

Used the white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen to add more detail to the dotty heart in the background.

Used a red Pan Pastel on the word ‘heart’

Used a dark blue Pan Pastel around the sunglasses to add some shadow.

Flexible

Afternoon, hope you’re enjoying the weekend.

Sharing an art journal page today, using Dylusion paints and stamps.

Flexible, art journal, mixed media, Dylusions, Dyan Reaveley, stamping, stencils

Step by Step

The initial background is a clean up background from creating other journal pages with Dylusions paints. You can see the technique explained by Dyan Reaveley here over on Ranger Ink’s YouTube video. I believe the colours in the background are Dylusions – Crushed Grape, After Midnight and Squeezed Orange.

I created the shape of the frame, using the Dylusions Journal Block. A black Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen was used to draw the doodles and I’ve add some colour to the doodles using white, purple and orange Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pens

Stamped the character from Dylusions Curious Corrin stamp set with black Memento ink, onto white card stock, and coloured with Copic markers.

Stamped the text from a clear Dylusions stamp set using black Archival ink onto white card stock.

Adhered the text and character to the page using DecoArt Matte Medium.

Decided at this point the page didn’t feel right, so added the flowers and leaves from a couple of Dylusions clear stamp sets using black Archival ink. The leaves are coloured with fluid acrylic inks and the flowers were coloured with Faber Castell Pitt pens.

Fly A Kite

Morning, sharing an art journal page from my small Dylusions journal.

I had a bit of a surprise whilst making this page, sat trying to add finishing touches to the page, ironically attempting to stamp cobwebs when a huge spider ran over my foot!!! Now I’m not scared stiff, anymore, but still rather not be around them. So when I spotted the spider in the corner of my eye thought I was just being silly because I was about to stamp a cobweb, almost fell off my chair when it ran over my foot, yuck!!! Not only was I freaked out but it messed up my stamping, more of an unattractive black smudge than a stamped cobweb.

Question is can you guess where the offending cobweb is? I had to hide it because it was an ugly mess lol

Step by Step

Started by applying Dylusions paints, used colours Bubblegum Pink, Squeezed Orange, Lemon Zest and Fresh Lime, with a blending tool.

Used various stencils along with Dylusions paints, colours as above, to add interest to the background.

Used a Dylusions background clear stamp set with pink and black archival ink to add depth to the background.

On a piece of white card stock I stamped various elements from Dylusions stamp sets to create my character, using black Memento ink and coloured with Copic markers.

Stamped the raindrops, from an Inkylicious stamp set, on sections of the page using black Archival ink.

Stamped the “flowers” using the circle stamps from Love Struck Lucy Dylusions stamp set and border from a Dylusions clear stamp set

Stamped the sentiment, used a portion of the sentiment from an Inkylicous stamp, with Smokey Gray Versafine ink onto white card stock.

Stamped the kite and tail section, from a Clearly Besotted stamp set, using Smokey Gray Versafine ink onto white card stock. Die cut the kite and tail pieces using the matching die set.

Stamped one of the flowers from Dylusions Doodle Flowers stamp set, using black Memento ink and coloured with Copic markers.

Adhered the stamped elements using DecoArt Matte Medium.

Stamped the foliage at the bottom of the page, from a Card-io stamp set, using black Archival ink.

Used a white Derwent Paint Liner pen to add highlights to the raindrops and some of the stencilled areas. Used the same pen to colour the “flower” stems and added some dots around the outline of the “flowers”.

Used a black Derwent Paint Liner pen to draw the string for the kite tail, outlined the sentiment and the kite plus added a faux stitched border around the edge of the page with the same pen.

Stamped the spider, from a Card-io stamp set, on the kite tail using black Archival ink.
