Digi Choosday – Week 40 – Anything Goes

Morning, it’s Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Digi Choosday

The theme is – Anything Goes.

For this weeks challenge, I’ve made a little 5×7″ canvas using an image transfer technique and Polkadoodles Summertime & Magic Garden collections.

 Step by Step

1. Painted the canvas board using Dylusions paints, London Blue and Calypso Teal. Used various stencils and Dylusions paints, using the same colours, to add some interest to the background.

2. Using a graphics program, I use My Craft Studio, to size the butterflies and sentiment to fit my canvas, from the Polkadoodles Summertime and Magic Garden collections – “Believe” from Magic Garden and Butterflies and “Let Your Dreams Shimmer” from Summertime. I also changed the pre-coloured butterflies to a black and white image. Printed the images onto copier paper with a laser print, I use the printer setting to print the images in reverse, I simply clicked the mirror check box. I needed the images, especially in the text, because I was using the images for an image transfer technique.

3. Gave the canvas a coat of DecoArt Matte Medium, allowed to dry.

4. Roughly cut out the butterflies and sentiments. Gave the canvas a second coat of DecoArt Medium, I left some areas a little patchy where the large butterfly would be placed because I wanted a more distress effect for the largest butterfly. Whilst the Matte medium is still wet laid the images, face down, onto the canvas. Burnished the images firmly to the canvas. Allowed the canvas to dry overnight.

5. Rubbed away the copier paper, using a damp sponge, to reveal the images and sentiments. Dried off the canvas using a heat tool.

6. Added some shimmer to the canvas using mica sprays in blue and gold.

Digi Choosday – Week 39 – Anything Goes

Morning, it’s Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Digi Choosday

The theme is – Anything Goes.

I’ve made a Xmas wall hanging for this weeks challenge, using the new release from Polkadoodles Festive Christmas available on CD-ROM.

Step by Step

1. Using a graphics program, I use My Craft Studio, I choose a one of the pre-designed circle frames from the Polkadoodles Festive Christmas collection and resized. I added additional elements from the embellishments section, the snowflakes and script, and altered the brightness to make them white, then altered the opacity so background would show through. I also did the same for the reindeer and the text.

2. Die cut the circle, using a Tattered Lace circle die, and matted onto decorative circle, cut from white card stock using a Spellbinders die.

3. Printed a co-ordinating paper, also from the Polkadoodles Festive Christmas collection, matted onto white card stock.

4. Matted the focal design using 3D foam tape.

5. Embellished with some snowflakes, die cut from white card stock using a Tattered Lace die set. Added some clear flat back gems to the snowflakes.

6. Used some white ribbon to create a hanging loop.

Morning, it’s Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Digi Choosday

The theme is – Anything Goes.

I’ve made a little Xmas gift box for this weeks challenge, using the new release from Polkadoodles Festive Christmas available on CD-ROM.

Step by Step

1. Choose papers & a tag from Polkadoodles Festive Christmas collection.

2. Used the Tattered Lace Hexagon Box die to cut the box and lid from the Festive Christmas papers. Constructed the box and lid, edged with a green Memento ink pad.

3. Cut out the tag and edged with a green Memento ink pad.

4.  Used a Tattered Lace Floral die to cut the flowers and foliage from the Festive Christmas papers. Edged the flowers with a red Memento ink pad. I printed a green and red paper from the Festive Christmas collection double sided to use for the foliage and flowers, saves paper 🙂

5. Adhered the flowers and tag using Pinflair 3D glue gel. Embellished the flowers with flat back pearls.

Digi Choosday – Week 35 – Anything Goes

Morning, hope you’re all doing well.

It’s Tuesday and that means a new challenge at Digi Choosday. This week I’ve made a little canvas using the Scientist Digi Bundle from Polkadoodles.

 Digi Choosday, Week 35, Polkadoodles

Step by Step

1. Used a graphics program, My Craft Studio, with images & text from the Polkadoodles Work and Play 12 Science bundle. I created the layout, sizing the images to fit my canvas, 7×5″.

2. Using a hot glue gun, I applied a lot of hot glue at the top of the canvas and allowed to drip down, be uber careful the hot glue is called hot glue for very good reason and you don’t want to stick a finger in it. I wedged the canvas between two heavy weight books, I needed the canvas upright to allow the glue to drip down but didn’t want my fingers anywhere near the hot glue. Once the first layer of drips had cooled I applied a second layer of hot glue drips. Allowed to cool down completely before starting any painting.

3. Cut the designs from Polkadoodles Science Bundle I’d chosen for the canvas.

4. Used Dylusions paint, Lemon Zest, to paint the canvas and the hot glue drips. Allowed to dry.

5. Used the dry brush technique to apply some Dylusions paint, Dirty Martini, over areas of the canvas and hot glue drips. I wasn’t looking for perfect coverage on the hot glue drips, it’s suppose to be gunge so didn’t need to be perfect.

6. Used a few stencils, Tim Holtz & Imagination Crafts, with Dylusions paints, Dirty Martini, Squeezed Orange and Black Marble, to create some interest in the background.

7. Loaded a paintbrush with Dylusions Squeezed Orange to add some paint flicks to the canvas. Allowed to dry.

8. Used Black Soot Distress ink around the edge of the canvas.

9. Adhered the Scientist and embellishments using Pinflair 3D glue gel.

The images on the canvas are all pre-coloured elements from the Polkadoodles Science bundle

The theme is – Anything Goes.

I’ve chosen to make an art journal page using the latest release from Polkadoodles Winnie Starfish and Sandcastles collection and some Dylusions paints.

Digi Choosday, Week 34, Polkadoodles, Art Journal, Mixed Media, Dylusions

 Step by Step

Used a graphics program to resized the sunglasses images from the Winnie Starfish and Sandcastles collection, available on CD-ROM or as instant download.

Created the quote using a graphics program.

Printed and cut out the sunglasses and text.

Used Dylusions paints to create the background on the page, using Cherry Pie, Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange.

To add more interest to the background, used various stencils, from Imagination Crafts & Dylusions, with a blending tool and Dylusion paints, in the same colours as above.

Used several stamps from Polkadoodles to add further interest to the background, using Archival inks in various colours.

Lemonade Fizz – used the spotty heart stamp

Lavender Tea – used the small circles & tiny flowers

Also used some Hobby Art textures stamps, with Archival inks, to add depth the page.

Arranged the sunglasses and text on the page and adhered with DecoArt Matte Medium.

Used a black Posca paint pen to colour some of the sunglasses frames.

Added a border around each piece of text using black Posca paint pen.

Stamped the tiny heart, from Polkadoodles Magic Garden stamp set, in the lenses of some of the sunglasses, using black Archival ink.

Used a white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen to add some emphasis some of the stencilling in the background.

Add some detail to the text using a white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen.

Used the white Derwent Graphik Paint Liner pen to add more detail to the dotty heart in the background.

Used a red Pan Pastel on the word ‘heart’

Used a dark blue Pan Pastel around the sunglasses to add some shadow.
