Under The Sea

Afternoon, hope you’re all enjoying your weekend!

I’ve been trying to stick to a crafty stash diet, no shopping for the past few weeks because I’m visiting the Doncaster Crafting Live show, yippee. It’s on this coming Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July, I’ll be helping out at the workshops on the Friday, another sell out workshop day, and then I get to visit the show and shop on the Saturday, happy dance πŸ˜ƒ

However, I gave into temptation this weekend with the release of the new Winnie collection from Polkadoodles, Starfish and Sandcastles. Bought the VIP XXL Value download bundle, well it was a bargain and I just loved all the gorgeous makes from the launch party on the Polkadoodles FB Group, you can see the stunning makes from my teamies here.

Got the acrylic paints out and created a page in one of art journals, using digis from the Starfish and Sancastles VIP bundle. The background was created using Liquitex acrylic paints, used Bee Crafty bubbles stamp with blue archival ink to add some interest to the background. I used various scroll stamps, Creative Expressions and Stampendous, to create the foliage/seaweed on the floor on the sea using archival inks and Versamark ink with mica powders, also used a stamp from Indigo Blu Circle Dot background to create some interest on the sea bed. I coloured the digi stamps, from the Polkadoodles Starfish and Sandcastles, with Copic alcohol markers and fussy cut but adhering with Deco Art Matte Medium. The text is also from Polkadoodles Starfish and Sandcastles digital collection. Finally used white gesso and an Imagination Crafts to add the bubbles.

Dream, Dream …. Art Journal

Morning, well it’s freezing cold here in the North West of England, we even had snow this weekend something we’ve not had for while!

I’ve been quiet with the blog recently because I’ve having trouble with my migraines again! The migraine auras make it difficult to craft, think my migraines have started up because I’m having really trouble sleeping. I created this page with no clear plan when I started but looking at the outcome, it looks like the lack of sleep is definitely on my mind more than I thought!!!!

Dream, Dream ... Art Journal

I started the page by creating a background with acrylic inks, I used Magic Color acrylic inks diluted with water in a mini mister. The inks were a Xmas pressies from hubby and it’s the first chance I’ve had to play with them. I am really impressed with them so far, lots of different ways to use them, I’m going have lots of fun experimenting with πŸ™‚

I used various rubber stamps (Indigo Blu) and stencils (Imagination Crafts & Tim Holtz), with Archival Ink in various colours, on the background. For the text I used texture paste and an Andy Skinner template. I used acrylic ink sprays on a book page and die cut circles from the page, then used Archival Inks through a stencil. I created a background, with acrylic spray inks again, and stamped the butterflies and text and them cut them out, the butterflies are from Indigo Blu stamp sets and the text is from a Dylusions clear stamp set.

I glued the die cut circles and emphases them with a black Sakura Micron pen. I stamped the girl (Hope) in black Archival Ink, the stamps from the Inspired by Banksy range from Bee Crafty. I glued the butterflies and text using Art Deco Matte Medium, I also applied a layer of Matte Medium over the Dream text. Finally I added colour to the text using Faber Castell Big Brush Pitt pens and highlighted around the butterflies, text and circles using the FC Big Brush pens.

I really didn’t have a plan when I started the page but my subconscious definitely seems to be stuck on the lack of sleep and dreams, what do you think??

Thanks for stopping by.

Mixed Media Page – Ickyink Oddella Heart

Ickyink, Oddella, Polkadoodles, Pan Pastels, Lyra Rembrandt Pencils, Pitt Pens, Faber Castell Gelatos, Versafine, Indigo Blu stamps, Hobby Art stamps, Inkylicious stamps, Inkables stencil, Tattered Lace die, Heartfelt Creation die

Well it’s a wet, miserable day here so what better excuse to stay indoors and get some crafting done πŸ™‚

I’m continuing with my Art Journal pages and this is my next page for it.

I got my Pan Pastels out, to create the backgrounf, had them awhile now but not used them much so I need to start experimenting with them more. I don’t have many of the Pan Pastels so my colour palette at the moment is limited, but despite not having the colour I wanted I did a bit of colour mixing to achieve the orang/peachy background. I used Permanent Red and Hansa Yellow, blended onto the cardstock and then I used DecoArt Matte Medium to blend the colours together to create the orange background. I used a palette knife to spread the Matte Medium, I normally just brush or pounce the Matte Media to seal or adhere but as I wanted to create an orange blend I used the Matte Medium with the palette knife and spread because I knew it would move the Pan Pastels & hopefully create the colour I was looking for and seal the this layer of my background.

The main image on the page is Oddella Heart, from Polkadoodles Ickyink digi stamps, really like these digis the character is a little edgy. You can find Oddella Heart here. I coloured her with Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils and fussy cut her out and adhere & sealed to the page with Matte Medium. I used Black Pan Pastrls through a stencil from The Inkables range, from Bee Crafty. For a llittle more interesting background and depth to the page I used various stamps from Indigo Blu, Hobby Art stamps and Inklyicious. I used Versafine ink pads, in a few colours, mainly the Onxy Black, and heat set before sealing with Matte Medium.

Added some tickets, from a Heartfelt Creations die set, coloured with Faber Castell Gelatos and stamped with Versafine Onxy Black and adhere & sealed with Matte Medium to the page. Add paper flowers, purple eyelet. and flourish die cut, from Tatteted Lace.

I used a Pitt Big Brush pen around Oddella to make her pop a little pop on the page, with ornage & yellow pens, and edged the page with a purple pen. The pens are smudgeable, is that a word!! I’m sure crafters will understand, whilst still wet on the Matte Medium so I could blend the pens out.

Finally, I added a few flat gems and dotted the heart with Graph’it White Shake marker.

Thanks for dropping by and thank-you for taking the time to leave comments, enjoy the rest of the weekend.

No Excuses

Evening everyone, a late post today but I’ve blogged and that’s what counts. Had a really rough night getting to sleep last night, fireworks being set off at stupid o’clock did not help, who sets off fireworks at 2.30am!!!!!

Sharing a couple of makes using Brusho paints and Bee Crafty stamps. I did the Brusho backgrounds a few days ago, put them aside to dry and lost them in my creative pile!!!!! Well I found them today, was having a tidy up, my craft room still looks a mess but tidier than it was this morning LOL

Brusho paints so easy to use but create such gorgeous backgrounds, much prefer the Brusho paints to mist sprays/paints/inks no more clogged noozles!!!

Hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend and managed to get some crafting done. Thanks for dropping by and fingers crossed you’ll be back again πŸ™‚

Trick or Treat !!!!

Evening folks, sharing make featuring a spooky goblin this evening, or is he??

He’s actually a Xmas elf but with a little creative colouring he’s my Halloween Goblin.  I purchased the Eric and Candy Canes stamp from Bee Crafty, intending getting a start on my Xmas cards, yes, yes, I know I’m well behind schedule!!! Halloween goblin actually came about because I made a bit of a hash colouring Eric in so thought I’d tried a rescue him and think he’s turn out quite good as a goblin???

Added a few Tattered Lace dies, the spider from Little Miss Muffet  (D941) and the Alphabet Bunting (D197), along with some scribbled spiders webs and text using a Sakura Micron pen to embellish and transformed my Xmas Elf into a spooky goblin πŸ™‚
