BD-i Tiaramaking February Design Challenge

Been busy, busy, with the February Design Challenge from BD-i Tiaramaking. Struggling with the camera work but didn’t struggle to get inspiration for my jewellery designs from the beautiful beads. I made a jewellery set in silver and red, using the bicones, diamanté rondelle spacers and clear/AB rondelles, all from the pack the only additions are the wire & findings. As I said I’m struggling with the camera work and sadly it doesn’t show the wonderful sparkle from the diamanté rondelle spacers and the clear/AB rondelles, they really do catch the light and twinkle.

My next designs are a ring and a handbag charm, using the red seed beads from the pack plus wire and findings from my stash. The ring is adjustable and quite a simple make but I think it’s an eye catching design, just love, love, love red & gold together 🙂

I’ve a couple more makes to upload, hopefully I’ll have more success with my photos!!!!

Make sure you check out the BD-I Tiaramaking blog for full details of the design challenge and I look forward to seeing your designs.

A few more bag charms, the BFF challenge for November is to blame!!!!

Made using various gemstones, agate, rose quartz, tigers eye, quartz, aventurine, smokey quartz, labradorite, hematite etc

Love these owl charms, I only had six of them sooo wish I bought more of them at the time coz I think the retailer no longer has these in stock – will have to have a hunt 🙂

Beading Friends Forever November challenge

Time for the new monthly challenge over on Beading Friends Forever, two challenges to join in with, you can enter both or just one – entirely up to you, the tutorial challenge is a beautiful bracelet and the theme challenge is to create a bag charm.
Obviously my DT pieces are for the bag charm theme challenge, made using a variety of gemstones – agates, quartz, amethyst, sunstone, and antique bronze owl and leaf charms. The purple bag charm is a gift for my Mum, purple is her fav colour, and my handbag is sporting the autumnal bag charm.
You can find full details of the challenge, and tutorial link, over on the Beading Friends Forever blog, together with details of the prize, donated by Beads Direct, that you can win by joining in with the monthly challenge.

Bag Charm or Pendant???

Made this today, I wanted a large pendant for a choker or princess length but not sure if this is a little oversized so may change intended purpose and finish as a bag charm, it’s approx 3 1/2″ and the widest part is 1 1/2″. Will have to find a chain and try out Before making a decision. The pendant!! is made from 1mm  and 0.4mm SP silver wire, Czech fire polish beads, BD-I crystals and seed beads.

Wire Wrap Seahorse

I’ve been experimenting over the weekend with my wirework. This is the result a wire wrapped seahorse, made using 1mm and 0.4mm turquoise wire plus a few seed beads. Quite pleased with the overall shape of the seahorse but I did mess up in some areas, where I was a little heavy handed with the wire and took some of the colour off the wire!! Oh well not the end of the world, wire is a learning experience, I’ve found that even if you have wire from the same supplier and same gauge some colours are more delicate than others.
